Vernatsch (Schiava)

Description

High altitude mountain slope, this rare red undergoes malolactic fermentation. It is a light red wine, reminiscent of Beaujolais, low in tannin, with a light ruby color. It tastessoft and fruity, with flavors of marcona almonds and cherries. The favorite pairing with typical South Tyrolean cuisine (we have recipes), and highly recommended with the traditional Tyrolean appetizer called "Marende" consisting of bacon, sausage and cheese (we have Nathalie's family recipe). It is also suitable to drink between meals, and the locals drink it as an aperitif.
